Salsa Lizano
Description
Salsa Lizano is a ubiquitous Costa Rican condiment originally created in 1920. Similar in color, usage, and consistency to Worcestershire sauce or HP Sauce, this light brown, slightly sweet and savory sauce is vegetable-based (made with ingredients like carrots, onions, and cucumbers) and features a mild blend of spices without the heat. It is the defining ingredient in Costa Rica's national dish, gallo pinto.
